VERSATILE FIND :: magnetic necklace

Siren necklace by annekiel - $162

I just adore this necklace by Anne Kiel! So incredibly versatile and chic. And I love that you can wear it as a headband. Definitely a fun piece of jewelry to play with.. just look at all the different styles!

"What makes these pieces so unique and versatile is their magnetic clasps. You can wear them separately, combine the necklaces into countless shapes, or even make them into bracelets, headbands, etc.! "

The fruition of a vision :: Aspiring Couture

Introducing a new online boutique: Aspiring Couture

Several months ago, I was approached by Allison O'Grady, founder of Aspiring Couture. She was recruiting emerging designers for her new venture and wanted to include my work. It's one thing (a very critical thing, I might add) to believe in your own vision, but to have someone else recognize and believe in your work is truly something else... something equally important in this vast entrepreneurial world, where it's quite easy to feel minuscule and irrelevant. I definitely consider myself a newbie in this little jewelry design venture of mine, but an "emerging" or "up and coming" designer was not a part of my self-descriptive vocabulary. To me, I am just creating jewelry pieces that I personally love and would personally wear, and I adore working with gorgeous natural materials and other interesting finds. That was the extent of it in my book. It's just delicious icing on the cake when others enjoy my work as well. And of course I hopped aboard the Aspiring Couture ship, not simply because I know it's headed for great places, but because I believe in Allison's wonderful vision as well. I'll let her express it in her own words:

"I'm Allison O'Grady, creator of Aspiring Couture, with a strong purpose to help passionate designers and showcase their work for those people who are looking for something different!

I started Aspiring Couture because I want to encourage other designers to continue to create on their dreams. I have grown up in a hard working and creative environment with the belief that helping others achieve their goals is an important part of one's life. You can't get anywhere alone, so it is important to help and support other people on your journey to succeed.

I am still learning so much, but I do want to thank those who have helped and supported me thus far. I look forward to the rapid expansion of Aspiring Couture which in turn means the rapid expansion of aspiring designers."

And what is Aspiring Couture?

"Aspiring Couture is an online boutique and fashion blog featuring the original work of aspiring designers. The purpose of Aspiring Couture is two-fold; first it is to help these truly amazing designers flourish and prosper, second, it is for those who are searching for something different and original to perfectly communicate their personal style.

Aspiring Couture was created for those people who are searching for something different. Aspiring Couture features only the work of aspiring designers in an effort to give you something new and original to wear! On the other side, you can feel good knowing that you have supported those designers who have worked so hard to create something to fit your personal style."

I can't express how great of a fit it is for eNVe Designs to be a part of Aspiring Couture's overall mission. I'm a huge proponent of letting your individuality shine and work really hard to create pieces that would allow for optimal versatility to reflect the wearer's unique and multi-faceted styles. I take great pride in this because it's my heart and soul, but never truly know how well this passion extends into the real world. That's why it's such a thrill and an honor to have such encouragement. Thank you, Allison. Truly.

I am currently working on some limited edition pieces that will only be available exclusively on Aspiring Couture, so keep your eyes peeled!

VERSATILE FIND :: for your home and beyond

This spa pillow from Mireio is just what you need for that relaxing retreat, whether you're jet-setting or just taking a breather at home, at the office, or on the train in between. This pillow is versatile in that it's a spa pillow (has a custom insert made of muslin and filled with Organic buckwheat hulls and luxurious Lavender from Provence!), a travel pillow (is the perfect size), and a lovely visual accent to any decor! Beauty and functionality.. all in one! I also love that each side is a different fabric/texture. This particular one features a soft knit in creamy white (like snuggling up with your crush on a chilly autumn day), backed by a refreshing floral cotton. The more I think about this pillow, the more I feel like I need it! :) I bet this pillow would also be great to take with me to the hospital when I go into labor! *hint hint* husband. I'll need all the comforting I can get!

There are also other patterns and fabrics available, like this gorgeous lavender pillow in a Danish cotton (front) / silk and cashmere knit (back). Silk AND cashmere together in one knit? Can it get any more comforting than that? I don't think so... Unless it also makes you chicken soup and gives you nice shoulder rubs. I want this one too. ;)

And this one....

And this one....

VERSATILE FIND :: the modern-day locket

If you haven't guessed by now, I love versatility...especially versatile jewelry! And this week's versatile find is just that. Cat, from Polarity and Uncorked makes some of the most clever, ultra stylish, and modern jewelry you'll find anywhere. And the best part is that all of her jewelry is eco-friendly! I'm a huge fan of her locket jewelry in particular, which are made from recycled steel auto parts. How cool is that??

You can get these lockets in a necklace, bracelet, ring, or earrings. Each comes with a set of 3 interchangeable locket faces to suit your changing wardrobe. There are a ton of different designs to choose from. You can even get your locket lids personalized with your own photos or definitions of your choice! And if you get all the jewelry pieces (i.e., a necklace, bracelet, ring, and earrings), you'll have 12 different interchangeable faces to play with... so the sky's the limit! You can also use the locket to store interchangeable items too... like daily reminders.. or important inspirational messages to yourself (..or phone numbers.. and pictures of boyfriends). just joking about the last part. ;) Hopefully your partner is versatile, but not interchangeable.

Do you have a versatile find?? Please send them my way!

And what about this beautiful Organic Wedding Gown ($360). You can get married 4 different times with the same dress and look different every time. ;)

always on the lookout

I have always been a huge fan of versatility (in case you didn't know) and I tend to look for it everywhere... from clothing, to accessories, to writing utensils, to kids' toys, to furniture. To me, it's always a great value if I can use any given item in different ways. It keep things interesting, I can utilize my creativity, reflect the kind of mood I'm in, and get more mileage out of my things.

One of the many reasons I love etsy is that it is not lacking in creative artists who design items with versatility in mind. I'll share these versatile finds with you whenever I come across them during my (many hours of) perusing the wonderful world of etsy (and beyond).

My first and one of my most favorite finds is this hat by Terry Graziano. I've never seen such ultra stylish and truly truly versatile hats like these before and I'm sure you'll agree. I'm not a hat person, but will probably convert just to wear one of these amazing creations. The Acapella is one of my favorite designs by Terry. LOVE it!

I am also a big fan of this hooded scarf. One side is vibrant, for when you want the world to see you, and the other is subdued, for your incognito days. But regardless of your mood, you'll still look super hip. Can't beat that!

And I don't know when or why my love for fingerless gloves began, but I love fingerless gloves! Here is a pair that is reversible and you can wear it long or rolled down for a shorter look. Love love love.
